Spring Kura Blessing (Shinto Ceremony)
The 2007 Kura Blessing brought the SakéOne community together for fresh saké and a reminder of saké heritage. This video clip (Quicktime movie) shares scenes from the Shinto blessing with Reverend Koichi Barrish, Portland Taiko's performance, and a demonstration by the Obukan Kendo Club. Tom Green
Comedian/Actor Tom Green visits SakéOne to shoot a segment for The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Matt Hollister, Saké Brewer, is on left sharing secret saké wisdom. Tom was a blast to spend the afternoon with as he learned how saké is made and shared a few sips with the crew. Watch for the segment to air in September 2006.
Cool Things Going On
Singer/songwriter John Bunzow takes the heat in stride as temperatures cross 105 F at a recent SakéOne concert. John was so great to work with (sweat and all) and we love his music so much that we'll invite him back when temperatures won't cause his skin to drip.
SakéOne Kura crew shine as wood crafsmen. The new gazebo is about finished thanks to the unearthed talents of our team. From the design to the joinery work this is a true center piece that conveys our team's pride in their work. Come by and see this work of art.
Sushi class gets rolling. Keep checking our evens page for the next sushi class. This fun, hands on class will provide the fundementals of sushi rolling and establish a better understanding of this wonderful cuisine. Be aware that we break the rules here too as we pair saké with sushi.
